Nestled next to the shores of Flower Round Lake in Flower Station, Lanark Highlands, our multi-generational farm has been owned and operated by the Wales family since March of 1920.
The family homestead has changed quite a bit over the last century, but our approach that respects the land and all that it has to offer has stayed the same. The farm became our home when we retired just before the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision to cultivate a vegetable garden was made during the pandemic to provide our family and friends with fresh, organically-produced vegetables, carrying on a tradition of resiliency and self-sufficiency practiced by previous generations. Since the pandemic, we’ve branched out, selling locally grown, farm-to-table produce.
Dark fertile soils – and more than a few stones – produce some of the tastiest organic vegetables that you will find anywhere. We produce a wide variety of veggies from asparagus to zucchini, and enjoy experimenting with new, flavourful options. Cucamelons anyone? Our fresh cut flowers and sustainably created wooden planters and décor are always popular farmers’ market items.
Our maple syrup bush still uses the traditional style spile and buckets, and we boil sap over a woodfired evaporator to produce beautiful light, amber and dark syrup that has been enjoyed locally and as far away as England and Germany.
We believe in a simple approach, producing nutritious food with care. As we build on a more than century of tradition, we hope our family will continue to provide your table with quality food products for generations to come.
